Summer Chic Hots Up

Look out the window and we can pretty much all agree that the weather really isn't up to much currently. But with the longest day of the year just behind us and the summer months officially started, it won't be long until that expected wave of heat will arrive.

Late July and August is said to be the time when we can concentrate on topping up our tans and appreciating at least some of the fabulous weather that our European neighbours get!! The likelihood is that you're not leaving it to chance, though. With schools out soon and the rest of the world feeling the heat, you've probably done the sensible thing and booked a holiday (I would have!).

Well, in my eyes that means more shoes to purchase, after all isn't a holiday a much-awaited occasion? Here at Keith Scarrott's we have a collection of fabulous sandals which will make packing your bags and coordinating your BBQ outfits that bit more fun.

The great things about summer is that no-one expects you to be tottering around in heels on grass or gravel - hence why when we're watching Wimbledon you'll see a sea of pretty yet practical flats. And luckily this season' maxi-dresses and tailored shorts make you look taller and more elegant without resorting to ridiculous skyscraper heels.

£99.95

We think these beautiful gem-studded flip-flops (above, shop HERE) in striking turquoise and fuchsia suede colours will be a BIG winner in the style stakes. Not only are the colours fabulously fun but that extra bit of glamorous sparkle means that moving from day-to-evening is simple as can be.

For something more wearable every-day these 2 pairs are probably the best we've ever had. At once the perfect sight-seeing, shopping or travelling sandal they're going to be worth their weight in gold whether you're at home or abroad. These funky ankle-strap (left, shop HERE) sandals are not only incredibly good value, but are also some of our most fashion forward footwear, whilst being some of the most comfortable. The fun snake trim is bang on trend.

£99.95
As for these amazing raffia and leather creations (right, shop HERE), the slight platform and stretch to the straps mean your feet will not only be in comforted heaven but also they are a sandal that will take through all summer in style.

And for you trend-concious fashionistas? Well, these amazing studded gladiators (below, shop HERE) have had us drooling over them since they first came in. In rich tan or classic black with delicate stud-detailing, these are the quintessentially Italian way to buy fashionable and feminine. They look just as good with denim skinnies as they do with flowing maxis.

We're Showing Our Model Behaviour in VOGUE

Exciting news for this week, well, month!! Keith Scarrott Shoes were recently contacted by VOGUE UK after the stellar feedback from our last September and October adverts. Except this time it was for something much more special.

That's right, Keith Scarrott's boots have been featured in a high-fashion location shoot in THE fashion bible. Not only that, but they were gracing the feet of internationally acclaimed model, Stella Tennant.

in VOGUE UK July 2011 Issue

Stella, granddaughter of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, has previously been an alumni for French, British and Italian VOGUE. Over an incredibly successful career spanning almost 20 years, she has modelled couture designs for the likes of Chanel, Hermรจs and Calvin Klein.

The July 2011 issue of VOGUE (right) has used Stella Tennant to showcase the tone for the trends that will be dominating the Autumn/Winter 2011 style landscape. Landing on the chic, tailored utility look they've named Civvy Street , our boots make the most of the clean lines and streamlined shapes that fashion is dictating.

Not only that but our stunning Cuban Heeled Ankle Boots have been used to maximum effect with all types of trouser lengths; which just goes to show that the use of ankle boots is only limited to your imagination!

You can view other photos of our boots inside the issue.

Who Says the Horse Shoes Are More Important?

Royal Ascot
With the Epsom Derby still fresh in our minds (commiserations, Your Majesty) it's now time for the main event. And no, we're not getting all of a flutter over odds and other equine-related trivia; we're in it for the fashion. Which can only mean one thing - it's Royal Ascot next week!

When it comes to racing and fashion, the two seem to go hand-in-hand. There isn't a racecourse left, that doesn't award the 'Best Dressed' woman and it's expected that we'll open the papers the morning after a big race meet to be greeted with an in-depth analysis of the fashion; good and bad!

My Fair Lady - Ascot (1964)
Undoubtedly this fascination with racing outfits has stemmed from the most famous meet,  Royal Ascot. It has been the epicentre of race-related fashion since it's founding exactly 300 years ago.

This was encapsulated in the 1964 film 'My Fair Lady' with Audrey Hepburn. The monochrome-themed Ascot scene is arguably one of the most visually stunning scenes in any movie, fashion-wise.

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge
It's easy enough to get caught up in the fuss around whether it should be hats or fascinators, maxi dresses or shifts, jackets or wraps. Shoes can go unnoticed until it's too late and in our opinion they are the most important piece to the whole lot! After hours of standing on turf or gravel, whether in the stands or queuing for the bar and marquees, your feet are sure to take something of a battering.

That means the challenge is on; to find a chic shoe that is completely race-friendly. Kate, Duchess of Cambridge recently showed us how it was done, in beautiful neutral tones with mid-heels that are sure to compliment any outfit.

These stunning courts (right, £139.95, HERE) are the funky way to wear a classic style. A little bit vintage, a little bit rock'n'roll, these gorgeous shoes are sure to provide the most amazing comfort and look great teamed with either an elegant shift or a girly, floral prom-style dress.

Alternatively, if you aren't lucky enough to be graced with the use of the Royal box, shapely wedges provide that extra touch of stability. These stunning silver wedges (below, £79.95, HERE) have just enough 'bling' to provide that extra shot of glamour to any skirt length, especially those on-trend maxi and midi-skirts.

You'll even be able to go straight from the course to the restaurant and last all evening! Now you can't say that about many shoes!

If heels just aren't your thing and you're more at home in finely cut trousers and a fitted jacket, then there's no need to think that you can't have you own share of fun. Pretty ballet pumps in neon shades like these (left and below right, £89.95, HERE) mean you can go with neutral linens or plain fabrics and still jazz it up with accessories. You'll also be in fine stomping form all day! No emergency respite for your feet here.

But whatever your style, if you're going to Ascot, enjoy and pick us some winners! Go on!!

Wedged Wonders

I think it's safe to say that a universal fashion agreement has been reached about shoes. That is, the higher the shoe, the better they look - and make you look! But it takes nerves of steel and even ankles of steel, for that matter, to wear them on a day-to-day basis.

There is after all, a reason why we don't totter around the supermarket on 5-inch stilettos (I'm leaving Victoria Beckham out of that comparison, of course, she must be the Bionic Woman).

However, for once fashion has come to our aid with this season's main shoes trend. Slotting nicely into the glam, Studio 54 Seventies vibe, the wedge has had something of a revival. Of course, most wedges are high but the difference is all in the shape. With a larger area on the sole and platforms supporting the front of your feet, you're more likely to pull off a Vicky Beckham with panache instead of with a couple of fractures!!

L-R: Lindsay Lohan, Samantha Cameron, Sarah Brown

The great thing with wedges is their versatility; despite them being flavour of the month this season, they are a shoe that is perennially popular. Wonderful with dresses and jeans alike, they'll take you from any length of skirt to any style of jeans, day or night, grass or pavement!

Needless to say, the best everyday wedges come in muted colours with natural soles. Raffia and cork soles are always a great way of making the wedge shoe lighter and more fun for summer. Also a bulkier heel, will be able to cope with thicker straps on the upper without making the style look unbalanced and inelegant. Which just means more comfort for you!

Here at Keith Scarrott's our selection of wedges has been flying out. These beautiful faux-raffia wedges (right, £99.95) HERE are perfect under slim leg jeans. A bit cool, a bit trendy, a lot of fun, they are something that every girl should have in her wardrobe.

These beautiful slingback, cork wedges (below, £79.95) tread that fine line between day and night creating a the perfect shoe for a city break or a quick weekend away. If you're not sure quite where you're going to end up, at least your feet will be prepared! Taking you from sightseeing, to shopping, to dinner; in classic Navy suede, fashionable Beige patent and vampy Black patent these are some of the best we've ever come across. Shop HERE.

If you're a bit unsteady on the average heel and are struggling to find an occasion shoe that will be chic yet kind to your feet, it's worth taking a look at these suede beauties (below left, £119.95). Shop HERE.

In stunning Black, Pink and Fuchsia suede, the upper looks like a classic sandal with delicate twisting detail on the front and straps that fasten gently round the ankle. The wedge is shaped so it is lighter and altogether more feminine. A gorgeous example of comfort and style in design; this is a wedge that will make you feel a million dollars. Stiletto or not!
